Blue Bendy have revealed their fantastic new single, ‘Poke’. The TMR favourites have returned with their first new music in a year and a half, and in that time, they’ve survived a near-breakup, lost members, and pushed their sound in a new direction. Their blend of art rock and chamber pop has reached new heights with ‘Poke’, with their unique sound becoming tighter and more polished, and their lyrics being laced with a level of vulnerability. The track’s lyrics were a reaction to “terrible hedonistic tendencies meeting rural social reclusion. For me it’s just like any fetishised nostalgic romance pop song. Who started the rumour of my insanity, and is a Facebook poke still hot ten years on?” The band will be supporting Black Country, New Road on tour this September. -Dan Peeke
